Valentine’s Day Special: Planning a Romantic Dinner for Two

Many of us go out to dinner for Valentine’s Day, which is a great way to spend it. On the other hand, a personal touch can be much more romantic and it gives you and your significant other more privacy in a more personalized setting. You may think that it’s too complicated to cook a fancy 5-course dinner for two, especially with Valentine’s Day being on a Wednesday this year; but it can be easier than you think if you’re well organized. I’ll walk you through it step by step.

First, you want to make sure you have done your gift shopping ahead of time. Whatever your gift is, buy it, get it wrapped, and keep it hidden away until it’s time for your dinner date. Check out Unique Ideas for Valentine’s Day Gifts if you’re stuck on the gift.

Next, decide what you will make for dinner ahead of time in order to buy your ingredients the night before. This is best especially if you work full-time. If any of your items require marination or preparation, try to finish this the night before and store in the fridge. If you’re stuck on ideas for your menu, why not try one of these ideas.

Don’t forget to tell your significant other that you’re inviting him/her over (or expecting him/her to come home if you live together) for a homemade romantic dinner. You don’t want to end up with a homemade dinner and dinner reservations. Tell your S.O. what time you want to start your celebration; 7:30 or 8:00 in the evening would be the most reasonable time, especially if you have to wake up early for work the next day.

Create a romantic playlist with songs that you have enjoyed together or take a walk down memory lane. If you’re married, you may want to include some songs from your wedding and your first dance. Choose songs that make you both smile and remind you of how much you love each other. If you’re still a new couple, make a playlist that captures the essence of the spark you have. Make sure there are a few songs you can share a dance to.

Before your S.O. arrives, make sure you have everything ready. Keep the food prepared and ready to go with just a few final touches and heating to finalize after their arrival. Make sure you shower and get dressed after finishing everything. This is a day when you definitely want to be as kissable as possible. Greet your S.O. with an appetizer and a colorful drink. You can make a personalized cocktail or follow a recipe, but make sure it looks appetizing and tastes good. Keep the music on before your S.O. arrives and start with drinks in your living room with the dining table set and almost ready to go. You can exchange gifts at this point or you can keep your gift on the dinner table with dessert at the end of your meal.

Spend at least 10 minutes with your S.O. before going to the kitchen to finalize everything. Use your fanciest plates and pay attention to how you arrange the food. Presentation is key. Set the table, lead your S.O. there, and enjoy the evening. Fancy, private, and totally kissable.

Happy Valentine’s Day

Xoxo
